Executive Treasurer

"Able Sail NL, is a Newfoundland and Labrador non-profit organization based out of the Royal Newfoundland Yacht Club in the Town of Conception Bay South.

Our goal is to enable people of all ages and abilities to share in the physical and mental health benefits of sailing by providing qualified instruction, equipment, and access to recreational and competitive sailing.

We are looking for a dedicated volunteer to join our Executive Team in the position of Treasurer. We seek a community leader with experience and expertise in accounting and finance to provide financial guidance and advice, and to participate in our efforts to achieve the goals we have set for the coming years.

Our goals for the next 5 years include:

• Host the Canada Games in 2025
• Foster and grow active interest in our mission from sailors, volunteers, and coaches
• Provide resources for all-inclusive sailing cruising excursions
• Provide resources to develop an Able Sail NL Race Team
• Provide resources to enable an Able Sail NL Race Team to participate in regional and national competitions
• Establish an accessible sailing community network capable of sustaining a ongoing recreational sailing program
• Establish Able Sail NL as a registered charity.

Duties:

The Treasurer manages the organization's accounting and finances, including relationships with financial institutions. The Treasurer provides accounting oversight of fundraising events and activities and financial contributions throughout the year and also manages and provides oversight of an independent third party annual audit.

Commitment:

Estimated volunteer time would be approximately 5hrs/week including accounting and meetings. The AbleSail NL Executive meets once a month for approximately two hours. Attendance and participation in AbleSailNL programs and events and activities is very much encouraged and welcomed.
